Correction: Implementation of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique in evaluating of renal failure in patients with iron (Fe) deficiency
Abstract
This corrects: Sami I, Zoory MJ, Lefta SH. "Implementation of laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique in evaluating of renal failure in patients with iron (Fe) deficiency." Adv. Life Sci. 2024;11(1):66–71. doi: 10.62940/als.v11i1.1962.
Following publication of this article, it was identified that two references cited in the manuscript were unrelated to the subject matter of the article and/or the context in which they were cited. The incorrect references have been replaced by the authors as follows:
Reference 2, cited in support of a statement on the chemical imbalance and buildup of toxic waste in the body leading to low blood iron levels, and on the removal of excess iron via dialysis and filtration:
Original (irrelevant) reference: Zlokovic BV, Tin J. Neurovascular mechanisms of Alzheimer's neurodegeneration. Trends in Neurosciences, (2005); 28(4): 202–208.
Replaced with: Pasricha SR, Tye-Din J, Muckenthaler MU, Swinkels DW. Iron deficiency. The Lancet, (2021); 397(10270): 233–248.
Reference 4, cited in support of a statement on kidney failure remaining a major public health challenge with high incidence, morbidity, and mortality:
Original (irrelevant) reference: Sterling RS. Gender and race/ethnicity differences in hip fracture incidence, morbidity, mortality, and function. Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, (2011); 469: 1913–1918.
Replaced with: Schieppati A, Remuzzi G. Chronic renal diseases as a public health problem: epidemiology, social, and economic implications. Kidney International, (2005); 68: S7–S10.
The authors have confirmed that these references were inadvertently cited during the manuscript preparation and reference management process and are unrelated to renal failure, iron deficiency, dialysis, or kidney failure epidemiology. The authors confirm that this correction does not affect the study's methodology, results, discussion, conclusions, or overall scientific validity.
